On Traveling Adventures, in General 1
Well, here I am sitting in Charleston, South Carolina–oh what a traveler I have become! So, I’ve been in the States for a while after my return from China and of course, missing China like crazy. And now, I’ve finally had a break from academics–we have a two-day break midsemester and I decided to tag along with my suitemate as she visited her older sister in Charleston.
Sitting on the beach with the sand between my toes, eating crab cakes and shrimp & grits, and just walking the Southern streets of Charleston made me appreciate the diversity of different locations. I love getting to know different cultures and seeing how differently people live in different areas of the world.
Charleston is interesting because you can see the vast segregation that still exists between blacks and whites. And then, you don’t see any other colors at all really (like me!) The ghetto is predominantly black and then you have the gorgeous beautiful and pristine Southern country homes with their white picket fences and porches to sip lemonade and sweet tea on.
If I ever had the time, I’d travel the world aimlessly and just go wherever the wind blows me.
