I like to write. There’s not much to introduce. But, if you must know, my name is Jessica and I am currently in graduate school studying for my M.Ed in Learning & Instruction, with a focus on curriculum design.  During college, I studied to be a high school biology and math teacher.  Upon graduation, I immediately accepted a Fulbright fellowship to teach English in Taiwan for a year. I tend to write a lot about education, Asian-American culture, and Christianity.

Oh, and I like to web design.  I’ve always had a passion for web design ever since I first learned HTML in 7th grade. After that, who knows what happened? I taught myself CSS and then I started reading and studying sources of inspiration like A List Apart and CSS Zen Garden; next thing I knew, I became a web designer myself, designing for various businesses and organizations.

And now, even though I know I will not be pursuing a full-time web design position, I still love to design and I’m always eager to learn more. I’m still looking to do a little design work on the side, so feel free to contact me if you think you may be in need of my services.

Things that make me smile

• Dancing - I’m pretty much obsessed with So You Think You Can Dance and I’ve been taking hip hop dance for a while now
• Kung Fu - I’ve been taking kung for 8 years now and I love it. Jet Li is one of my greatest inspirations
• Gymnastics - I used to take it when I was younger and I was on my high school gymnastics team (although, that doesn’t really say much)
• Basketball - I love the rush of playing the game, even though I’m short and and it’s hard to play when you’re the only girl. I definitely still have a lot to learn and improve but I love playing it and it’s one of the only sports that I’m actually interested in watching on television. Favorite player: Juan Dixon, baby! And of course, the 2002 NCAA Champs - the UMCP Terps!

• Writing and Reading Poetry
• Photography - I love the art of photography even though I’m not really technical and I don’t really know much about cameras. I’m really hoping to get a digital SLR and start just messing around with it. Haha. I love the idea of aperture and focusing on different objects. Macro shots have always intrigued me too.
• Finding Bargains - I love saving money. I think I get a rush from finding good deals. Seriously.
