Winter Vacation Travels 0

Jan18

I can’t believe it, but starting tomorrow, I will officially be traveling for 1 full month, experiencing 3 different cultures, visiting 9 different cities, and sleeping in a total of 11 different places.  We get a three-week winter break (han jia) that separates the first and second semester in Taiwanese schools.  Also, because of the Fulbright Mid-Year Conference, we’re leaving a bit early and beginning our adventure.

So, where exactly am I going?  Well, tomorrow (January 19) I head into Taipei to stay for one night.  Then, early in the morning, we’ll take the HSR (High Speed Rail) to Kaohsiung and head onto Kenting for the Fulbright Mid-Year Conference.  After three days, we’ll stay in Kaohsiung for a few days and then fly to Bangkok.  Deborah and I are going on some adventures in Thailand including visiting the island Koh Samet and the scenic Kanchanaburi.  After that, I’m parting ways with Deborah and heading back to Taipei to meet my mom and show her around Taipei.  We’ll then head to Japan for a week, hitting Tokyo and Kyoto, and then return back to Taipei.  Afterwards, I’m finally taking my mom back to Yilan (where I actually live in Taiwan), until she leaves February 19.

So, in summary, I probably will not have much internet access for the next month (until I return back to Yilan).  Just a heads up if you worry that I’m not responding to emails and all that.
